The juice shot to boost immunity, calm inflammation and soothe digestive issues
These ginger juice shots are one way you can gain the benefits of ginger each day, without having to juice each day.
You can make them ahead of time and have them ready to go for the week, and consume some every morning.
Unlike my other ginger juice shot recipes, I don’t drink straight ginger juice in this 2 ounce shot every day – that would be too much for me. Instead, I just a bunch at a time and they last me weeks when I store some in my freezer. Then, I use just a teaspoon each morning in my lemon water. It’s a great way to supplement and gain the benefits of ginger without the hassle.
And yes, you could take a ginger supplement, but consuming the juice from the fresh root is the best – it’s not processed and retains all nutrients.
Ginger Juice Shot Recipe
- Bowl of fresh ginger root, 10-12 roots, unpeeled
- Optional: water, coconut water, lemon juice, apple juice
Juice the ginger in your juicer machine. Because ginger is a root and not very juicy, this will take some time and you’ll likely have to stop, clean the juicer or remove some pulp before you can finish the whole batch. No need to peel. Once juiced, add the fresh juice directly to your shot bottles. If you’re going to drink it that week, fill it all the way to the top and cap. On the bottles you’ll freeze, make sure you leave a large gap of space at the top to allow the liquids to expand when frozen to avoid bottle breakage. If you rather not have straight up ginger juice in your shot bottles, you can mix it with one of the optional ingredients so it’s not so strong. Save in the fridge or freeze for later use.
To consume, pour a little bit of ginger juice, about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ginger juice in your glass each morning. Fill the rest of the glass with lemon water or coconut water and serve. After you get use to this little amount, add more to your glass each day. You can have this several times throughout the day.
NOTE: Ginger juice is very potent and strong. You only need a small amount to benefit from its healthful properties.
