Happy fall!  The temps are starting to cool down since it’s now September.  Who’s ready for some fall flavored things, like an Apple & Sweet Potato Pie Juice?

Because there is all this hoopla around the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte, I thought we could make some hoopla of our own with a juicy fall drink – an Apple Sweet Potato Pie Juice 😉

I set out to make a really authentic tasting pie juice today, and I have to say… it tastes just like grandma made it.

Love these glass jars?  They are a part of our juice & smoothie bottle line.  You can get your own set here.

Benefits of Apple Sweet Potato Pie Juice

SWEET POTATO  Sweet potatoes are high in vitamin A which contributes to optimal skin health and good vision.

APPLE  Apples have an insoluble fiber that sweeps away toxins from the body and also helps with constipation.

CELERY  Celery stalks help to remove excess sodium from the body and are a natural electrolyte..

CARROTS   They are a valuable source of antioxidants and help ward of the damage done by free radicals.  It also are high in beta carotene.

Ingredients

1 sweet potato, peeled or not

2 carrots

1 apple

1 celery stalk

a pinch of apple pie spice

Directions

To make this pie-tasting juice, scrub the sweet potato and carrots skin until its clean.  Cut the sweet potato, carrots, apple and celery if needed to fit in your juicers chute.

Juice the sweet potato, carrots, apple, and celery together in your juicer machine.   Pour into a glass.  Add a pinch of apple or pumpkin pie spice and stir gently with a spoon to combine.

Blender Variation

If you have a blender and not a juicer, this recipe won’t work so well and you’ll have to modify it to this:

  • 1/4 cup canned or cooked sweet potato or pumpkin puree
  • 1 apple
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1-2 cups almond or coconut milk
  • Ice
  • optional: add a handful of spinach or sweetener, like honey or maple syrup, to taste

All all of these ingredients in your blender container.  Blend on high until smooth, adding more liquid until you reach your desired consistency.  Serve.
